Is Smart Photo Extraction just a fancy way of saying AI?

Yes and no! We do use AI image recognition to identify the images but the organizing and placing of all of the data is thanks to the engineering team at SmartLabels.

If AI is looking at my images will all that stuff be searchable by anyone online?

No. According to the policies of the AI we use, it does not store any of the data we send it for later use in a long term database. If the system needs to store the data for analysis it is usually for less than 1 minute and it is deleted immediately afterwards. The AI is trained on external images and it uses what it has learned from those images to try to guess what is in your image.

Will the AI train on the images I give it through SmartLabels?

No. The policies of the AI we use state that the AI will not train on your data from SmartLabels. The models we use are pre-trained using data outside of the SmartLabels ecosystem.

Do I have to use Smart Photo Extraction?

Not at all! The old method of adding labels and items manually still works and is an option for all customers.

Will AI take over the world?

We sure hope not. But wow does it make adding items to the app easy.
